About Me
I live in southeastern North Carolina, where I’m told we have several lovely beaches just minutes from my house; however I haven’t seen any of them in years. I moved here from Michigan in the early nineties to escape the cold – sorry, that’s supposed to read “go to college” – which is the last time I had a chance to spend a lot of time at the beach. I took up surfing, met some great people, and decided Wilmington was my home.
I found my love for web development in the mid nineties and have spent most of the intervening time working in the field while trying to keep up with as much of it as possible. I honestly read PHP and JavaScript books for fun – I have one particular PHP book in the first, second, third, and fourth editions and will be buying the fifth as soon as I remember my Amazon password – hit the contact page and ask me which it is if you’re curious. Back in the day I had a three year running conversation with a colleague about the benefits of OOP versus procedural coding and no, I’m not kidding. I really am that much of a nerd.
These days, my time is mostly split between work, keeping up with modern front and back-end development techniques, hanging out with my wife and our three kids (we have a 60-pound lab mix, a 65-pound pitbull mix, and a 16-pound cat), eating good food, sipping good wine and beer, and working to restore our almost 100-year old home just on the outskirts of downtown Wilmington.
