Design

I actually started out in design. I did a lot of print work throughout the early ’90s – mostly logos, 2D and 3D product design, and catalog design. I once produced an entire line catalog without a single photograph of a product. It was when the company that I worked for at the time decided they wanted to get a leg up on this whole ‘Internet’ thing that seemed like it might take off that I started designing websites. Updating in those days was a hassle – every menu on every page had to be updated whenever we added a new page. So, I looked around for a better way to handle it. That lead me to PHP and MySQL, and I was hooked. I still do design today – I’ve got a couple clients I work with on the side for a variety of print projects. I think it keeps me agile.
